Nevertheless, whilst it is not racist to have a debate about immigration (BBC Radio 5 Live does it every other day), Radio Enoch, and its forerunner, Two Spires Radio (1978/9) is generally considered to have broadcast material praising South Africa's apartheid regime, criticising Margaret Thatcher as "wet" and mocking Africans as subhumans. In 1984, the British soul pirate Radio Invicta carried out the only known interview with the operators of Radio Enoch. This was later published in the 1985 book "Rebel Radio" by Hind and Mosco. The operators clarified that they did consider themselves to be motivated by the politics of race.

In any case, Radio Enoch's broadcasts became increasingly sporadic during the early 1980's and it is not believed to have made any transmissions for over 20 years. We have to see if it starts up again.

I wonder if it is a disgruntled pirate wanting to cause some mayhem or the Dutch telecom authorities targeting shortwave pirates. They might have mistook Underground for a Dutch pirate ... as he plays lots of Dutch music.

It has also been suggested jammer is monitoring stations using the Twente SDR so when a station moves he can follow them.uk dxerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16914337005866804699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28488709.post-31443619774902100192013-12-15T17:46:22.256+00:002013-12-15T17:46:22.256+00:00radio underground was jammed on several freq's...radio underground was jammed on several freq's and is a u.k station.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28488709.post-75576820400979690912013-12-15T15:27:40.459+00:002013-12-15T15:27:40.459+00:00does any one think it might be the dutch radio aut...does any one think it might be the dutch radio authority,s doin the jamming.? no british stations has been jammed. have they.? so why pick on dutch stations to jam.? ideas wellcome. I have heard of only a handful of similar experiences in the past. During the late 1970's, there was a British pirate station called Radio Enoch, which was the mouthpiece for an pro-right wing group called People Against Marxism. It's racist output did not sit well with the music pirates on 48 meters, of which there were many British ones at the time. They retaliated by jamming the signals of Enoch on 6240 kHz. Radio Enoch dismissed the music pirates as "flea powered nuisances" but in fact, the jamming did help bring an end to the Radio Enoch phenomenon.

And then in the early 1990's, between July 1992 and Summer 1994, there was a service of Radio Caroline on shortwave: I think they used 6210 kHz, with programmes recorded aboard the impounded Ross Revenge and then rebroadcast from an installation in Ireland, which was still relatively liberal towards SW piracy. So, in a way, between the end of its offshore era and the relaunch as an internet/satellite station, Caroline did spend some time as a landbased pirate operation. I heard rumours at the time that some of the UK landbased stations were not happy about the powerhouse Caroline signal on 48 meters and that some wanted to jam it. But I do not think that this actually occured.

Of course, the jamming signal might come from a legal installation. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that some government has taken international telecoms laws into their own hands. Didn't R.T.E. attempt to jam Radio Nova and the other "super-pirates" during the early 80's? Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
