Radio Mi Amigo to broadcast on 1602

To mark 35 years since the start of the original Radio Mi Amigo as an offshore station, the Dutch Internet station of the same name will be broadcasting via the mediumwave transmitter of Radio Waddenzee on 1602 kHz from the radio ship Jenni Baynton on Sunday 30 August from 0800-1700 UTC.

Programmes will be presented by some of the current DJs and also some of the original DJs. The radio ship will be anchored in the harbour at Harlingen, Friesland.

It’s not stated whether the transmitter on board the ship or the regular landbased transmitter will be in use for this broadcast. A TV crew from Belgian public broadcaster VRT will also be filming during the day as part of a documentary they are making about the founder of Radio Mi Amigo, Sylvain Tack.

Just a reminder, Radio Caroline started broadcasting at 6pm UK time (1700UTC) on 531 kHz, and will be there until midnight on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31. More information at www.radiocaroline.co.uk.
