What a great weekend for SW Free Radio! Radio Bogus Man is romping in here in Bristol with a signal easily heard on a "domestic" receiver giving really nice audio. Great selection of indie and old rock records, including Slowdive and a rare T-Rex B-side.

Why though was a programme from July aired, rather than a more contemporary one? Long live Bogus but where are all the other UK stations?

  3. Underground was on early this morning, Telstar South is on 6310 this evening, Merlin is usually quite active (but seems to behaving a weekend off).

Also Premier Radio from Ireland back, but what's happened to Irish Music Radio?

Yes, I would love to hear more UK stations on the air. Not sure what reason it is that means that continental AM free radio stations are as strong as ever they were in the 70's or 80's, but we in the UK and Ireland are a bit behind. OFCOM can't be that good! (In fact, I understand that their success rate in closing FM pirates is falling, because a lot of stations are running as internet operations with FM relays running from the perfectly legal streams. Which means that studios are much harder to raid).

  5. Just looking at my logs for the weekend shows the shortwave scene is still very much alive ... and that's just the stations I heard!

England is probably the second most active country in shortwave free radio after the Netherlands (although some way behind the number of Dutch stations!)
