Like the new look of the blog!

Atlantic Radio also heard at 9.30pm in Bristol on an ICF Sony Receiver with no external antenna. Fair signal, and stable, with little fading. Music was largely Dutch polka tracks.

Very early on Tuesday morning, gave the Athens SDR receiver a whirl. There were pirates on 1620 kHz and 1640 kHz (both playing Greek traditional music) and a number of stations on 1690 kHz QSOing and making brief music transmissions. At least one of these seemed to be IDing as Radio Nicos. Tracks played included Grace Jones "Pull Up to the Bumper", Ace of Base and some German techno.

Do any stations QSO on shortwave nowadays? In days of yore the chats between certain SW stations were as entertaining as the programmes themselves.

  3. You sometimes get a QSO on shortwave between Dutch pirates.

Some of those Greek pirates can put in a good signal even as far as the UK, they must use quite a few kW
