Great haul on the shortwaves for a Boxing Day.... here are my logs, hope you find them of interest too.
ReplyDeleteBoxing Day
Radio Alabama on 1629 kHz, broadcasting all morning with a strong signal on the Twente Receiver. Nice modulation. Uplifitng polka and traditional accordian music. Announcements in Dutch.
1624 kHz – Marching music, brass. Radio Zender Curaso responding to Alabama. 11.15 UTC.
1625 kHz at 3.50pm. Rock music. Very strong signal on Twente Receiver. Identifications in English and Dutch as Radio Barones. Track played include “Piratenzender”, a song about pirate radio in Holland.
1647 kHz at 3.51pm. Schlager music. Great signal.
1663 kHz at 4.00pm. Christmas songs, country and western style. Strong signal also.
1620 kHz at 5.20pm. Athens SDR. “Wind of Change” by The Scorpions. Off at end of track.
Greek pirates mostly QSOing on 1650 kHz, 1660 kHz and 1700 kHz. Music mostly trad Greek where played.
1660 kHz at 5.44pm UTC. QSO Greek pirate taking messages from what sounded like CB operators, and chatting with them over the air.
1620 kHz at 5.49pm UTC. Athens SDR. Very strong Greek pirate playing pop music including Greek tracks and “A Dream's A Dream” by Soul II Soul.
1657 kHz at 6.07 PM UTC. Twente SDR. Weak signal with polkas. Radio Turfstekker. Off following ID and track end.
3136 kHz at 7.14 PM UTC – Tula SDR. Russian “Radio Hooligan” playing lively Russian pop music. Decent signal, but utility interference on adjacent frequency.
1634 kHz at 11.24 pm UTC – Twente SDR. Fair signal. 1960's music. Radio Zender Mi Amigo.
A great haul in quantity, maybe, but a far cry from when 6 Mhz would be buzzing on a Boxing Day with great broadcasts and subsequent QSOs.
