If you were wondering where the WMR relay on 6290 is this weekend, a message on the WMR website said it is off for a few weeks. You can still hear this week's show via Shortwave Gold on 6160/3975 tonight from 2100 UTC or direct from the station website: http://www.wmrscotland.com/wmr_latest_news.html
I’m missing the 6290khz this week. Doesn’t seem the same on the band without that big signal being there. Can only listen these days via the online SDR’s because I no longer live in the UK or have any external antennas or SW receivers. Soon may it return.
ReplyDelete48 metres seems empty without WMR.
ReplyDeleteThat's because it is, unfortunately. Its glory days are long gone.
DeleteWhich of the WMR frequencies is NOT from Ireland but from the (licensed) Dutch station Piepzender?
ReplyDeleteNone whatsoever.
DeleteAlso heard in the Russian "hooligan" band:
ReplyDelete2970.50kHz. Illegal operator playing synthpop type music at 22:40 Moscow Time and continuing for a long while. Good signal and modulation received on the Tambov SDR.
Thanks, Vladimir.
DeleteThe band does seem empty without WMR. But the glory days of pirate radio when the 48 metre band would be packed with pirates on a Sunday morning are long gone.
ReplyDeletethey were the days when 48 was full of stations.like jolly roger, radio rainbow, westside radio, radio fax, radio ireland, radio valerie.
