Britain Radio International

We have been unable to produce any new programmes during Jan/Feb due to various non-radio commitments.

The replacement flashback show will be broadcast again this Sunday (25th), however a new show will go out during the 2nd/4th Sundays in March.

There will be two interesting Radio Caroline features, one by Tom Anderson remembering March 20th 1980 when the Mi-Amigo lost its fight with the sea, also a tour of the Ross Revenge last year with Rick Wakeman, the DJ profile for this month will be Robbie Dale.

We hope to be on air this Sunday with a test to North America/Europe starting approx 6.30am UK time (0630UTC) using either 6235kz/ 6240khz/6250khz, probably our usual channel 6240khz is the most likely one.

There could be further early Sunday morning tests during March.

Pirate recordings

The Medium Wave Circle is pleased to announce the release of its latest CDs.

It's an 80+ hour triple CD set of British landbased pirate stations recorded between 1983 and 1991. The first two CDs are all London stations such as well remembered R Jackie, R Sovereign, Horizon FM, LWR etc, and many long forgotten weekend hobby pirate stations.

The third CD consists of recordings of stations from Liverpool, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex etc.

Back in the 1980s, pirate stations offered a bigger variety of formats than they do today. On these recordings, you will find stations broadcasting rock, rock & roll, pop, oldies, easy listening, r & b, reggae, soul, jazz etc.

A full itinerary, prices and ordering details can be found on our website at: http://www.mwcircle.org

Radio Rainbow

Radio Rainbow has moved to 6250, 24 hours a day according to message left on this blog.

Unfortunately I can't hear anything on 6250 at present (1130UTC), apart from occasional utilities, to confirm it. Not hearing anything on 6300 either!

If 6250 is the new frequency then RRI might face co-channel QRM during parts of the day from North Korea and Iran who are both listed as using this frequency.

Radio Rainbow to move

Message from Radio Rainbow:

Dear freedom lovers;

It came to our knowledge there is a unwritten agreement between several free radio stations about 6300 khz.

There is also a free radio station transmitting from the Sahara which choose this frequency.

Because of our great respect for free radio stations of good will, we have decided to change our frequency of our 24 hour service Radio Rainbow International - the Voice of Peace.

We ordered equipment for another frequency. It will take about 2 weeks before we are receiving this. Until than we will be on 6300 khz, as published worldwide.

We wish you all the best and are looking forward of cooperation between our stations for free radio and peace sake! Let us all promote real freedom, peace of mind and loving awareness, no matter what 'they' say!

Best wishes;
crew
RRI

(info via Dr Tim News)

At the moment Radio Rainbow is inaudible for most of the time on 6300, even when the frequency is clear. As I type this @ 1045, I can hear nothing on 6300. If it want to provide a 24 hour service, the station will need to do something so its signal can be heard properly. ukdxer

After a rather longer hiatus than we had anticipated, Radio Six International is delighted to resume its weekly live broadcasts to Europe and the Pacific on shortwave from Saturday, 3rd February.

The weekly Saturday broadcast will be (as before) from 0700 to 0800 UT on 9290 kHz with 100 kW from Ulbroka, Latvia.

For February the programme during that hour will be the Tony Currie Show. More details at http://www.radiosix.com

(TONY CURRIE, Programme Director, Radio Six International, Jan 30, WORLD OF RADIO 1345, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Being the first Saturday of the month I guess Radio Joystick will be on from 0900. It would be nice to get detailed info about the relays from Latvia. It seems to be down to the stations themselves to promote their own broadcasts! ukdxer
