No luck on 1548 so far although it is not a clear channel. I don't know why more stations are not using 1233, which used to be used by Rock Revolution until they closed earlier this year. It seems to be a clear channel.

1440 is also quite a good channel although there's been a pirate playing tapes of Luxembourg 208 here recently.

I also read the Coast Fm relays has been using 1575 - a strange choice as there's no chance here with Northern Star from Norway now using 1575 (ex-1611) and the low powered station Mi Amigo from Harwich also on 1575.

Guess you maybe out of my range without knowing your approx location? 1548khz seems to be clear here but always happy to move around if needed.

South of England - I'll keep trying

If you get no joy soon then let me know of a frequency close to 1548khz that's seems clear for you.

Although 1548 is fairly clear, there's a station off channel on 1550, listed as Western Sahara with 50kW, creating a het. Flicking down the band 1440 is clear when not being used by other pirates.

I'll check 1440 out and look to retune for this weekend.

I'll be on 1440 this weekend uk dxer.

thanks for the info radio dead. My vote would be with the earlier comment that 1233 is maybe the clearest channel on mw....debatably perhaps. There is a distant, poss Iranian on 1548, ?? as well as the off channel thing on 1550, easily avoided on any modern SDR....and 1242 for example has a distant arabic. 1233 has nothing, but 1440 sometimes has other pirates using the freq. even the clear area around 1206 has a distant thing. Just that when running QRP every little bit of help is needed.......

OK, Thanks for your info, I'll avoid 1440 if others are using it, AMradiofan recommended 1530 mentioned on another forum so I'll give that channel a try this evening and see how it goes. I can go down to 1233 but a larger loading coil is needed to bring the aerial to resonance and with it more losses.

Energy from Dublin are using 1440 kHz it seems.

Thanks, I'll stick with 1530 for now.
