Ofcom calls for crackdown

Ofcom in the UK have called for a renewed crackdown on illegal broadcasters and pirate radio stations claiming that their signals can risk lives by interfering with emergency service frequencies and block legitimate stations.

According to Ofcom figures, there are more than 150 pirate radio stations operating across the UK, half of which operate in London and the South East of England.

Most of these are found on FM, with the majority in London

would love to know where offcom get the figures, 150 pirate stations ? mabe in the 90s their were, as in south yorkshire their were 12 stations. even west yorkshire had a lot, plus manchester, ect.to day in these parts nil.your view wellcome on this figure.

There are a lot in London - look on the website http://listings.ukpir8radio.co.uk/

There be at least 50 there - I don't know about other cities.
