New broadcast by FRS Holland

On Whit Sunday May 23rd, the Free Radio Service Holland will take to the airwaves with a 4 hour broadcast.

On this occasion, programmes will commence at 15:52 UTC/ 17:52 CEST and close down will be at 20:05 UTC/ 22:05 CET.  Programmes will be aired on 7700//5790 kHz as well as on 3920 kHz. 

It will be a special broadcast dominated by 1970s only music and: a number of  radio related items will be aired, all relating to that era. All mail from March will be handled in our shows.

Catch us on Whit Sunday….the best in 1970s music, many interesting (radio) related items, letters/ e-mails. It will be worth while to tune in! New programme from Radio Igloo

Radio Igloo and the Westcoast DX-Club in Gothenburg, Sweden have produced another show with information about the DX club and music performed by artists from West Sweden.

The show will be broadcast from one of our shortwave transmitters in central Europe on Friday  April 23rd at 1900 UTC (2100 European Daylight Time)  on 6295 kHz or on a free frequency nearby.

Texas Radio Shortwave European test

On Saturday, April 3, WRMI will air a Texas Radio Shortwave test for European listeners on 15770 kHz at 1100 UTC.

The program will include multilingual IDs, SSTV images, and renditions of TRSW's signature tune "The Yellow Rose of Texas."  (18 renditions to be precise.) TRSW's prepared a special eQSL for correct reception reports to texasradiosw@gmail.com. 

Reports must include a SINPO report, text of announcements, and times of songs.  Copies of SSTV images and audio clips covering two minutes of reception are especially welcome.

In its regular broadcast, Texas Radio Shortwave will feature country music legend Kenny Rogers in its April artist tribute program.

Storm kicks Channel 292 off air

 

In a statement the station said: "A heavy storm that hit us Saturday afternoon, caused severe damage to our antennas. Since Saturday, 1528 UTC we are off air.

"We hope that we can repair some of the damages on Sunday, and to be back on air in the evening; but it is not sure if on one, two, all three frequencies and, if at all. 

"We say thank you to all of you who have already sent donations to help us to pay for the damages, or have told us they will do. Thank you very much for your support in hard times."

Let's hope they will be able to get them fixed and return to the air soon.

FRS Holland takes to the air this weekend

The Free Radio Service Holland will take to the airwaves with a 5 hour broadcast tomorrow (March 14). 

On this occasion, programmes will commence at 08:52 UTC/ 09:52 CET and close down will be at 14:04 UTC/ 15:04 CET . Following close down the full programming will be repeated until approx. 19:15 UTC/ 20:15 CET. Programmes will be aired on 7700//5790 kHz. During the afternoon session a 3rd frequency will be added: 3920 kHz. 

Apart from our usual format, during Sunday's broadcast all mail from FRS' previous November (40th Anniversary) & Seasonal December broadcasts will be handled. Because of the number of letters/e-mails we received, our good old International Listeners' Letter Show will be revived for this occasion! In the 1980s it used to be part of our programming. Former presenters were Joop ter Zee, Chris (our first German presenter), Gerd & Peter Verbruggen. Mike Taylor who used to do the Mailbag Show on E.M.R., will host the 2021 version of the I.L.L.S. (including original programme tune).

Tune in for the best in music, many interesting (radio) related items, letters/e-mails ánd DX news. We will be airing archive recordings from March 1991, 30 years back in time.

Pirates heard in past six months in Finland (heard by Beta JBK):
"Once again I have compiled a list of those free radio identifications which have been receivable here at my city and remote QTH’s during that period.

On the whole pirate activity on SW and MW seems to be on the decrease, especially on SW, for as on MW the activity seems to be keeping up well. The SW numbers may also be explained by the low sunspot number lowering my ability to receive and the eagerness of the stations to broadcast."
