New show from Radio Igloo

Next weekend, on November 19th and 20th, Radio Igloo will be on air with a new program, also this time in co-production with the Westcoast DX-Club in Gothenburg, Sweden and sponsored by TRSW (Texas Radio Shortwave).

The program will include DX-information about the Westcoast DX-Club and about The Swedish DX-Federation. The information, which is in English, will be mixed with lots of music performed by Swedish artists.

Correct reports, preferably with an attached audio clip, and with comments about the content of the program will be verified with our new QSL-card.

The program will be broadcast on:

• November 19 at 18.00-19.00 UTC from Channel 292 on 3955 kHz
• November 20 at 02.00-03.00 UTC from WRMI on 5950 kHz
• November 20 at 12.00-13.00 UTC from WRMI on 15770 kHz

FRS Holland broadcast to celebrate 42 years on the air

On Sunday October 30th, the Free Radio Service Holland will take to the airwaves celebrating 42 years of shortwave free radio. 

On this occasion, programmes will commence at 08:52 UTC/ 09:52 CET and close down will be at 13:35 UTC/ 14:35 CET . Following close down the full programming might be repeated (if so only on 7700 and/or 9335 kHz!). Programmes will be aired on 7700//9335 and 6185 kHz. 

Expect the familiar FRS format: great music, various (surprising) radio related items, FRS memories, listener's mail and of course DX news. 

Because of the high number of letters/ e-mails we received following our July/August Summer Splash, our good old International Listeners' Letter Show will be revived for this occasion! In the 1980s it used to be part of our programming. Mike Taylor who used to do the Mailbag Show on EMR, will host the ILLS Tune in on Sunday October 30th...it will be great Sunday entertainment and more than worth while! 

And: for this special occasion only, a brand new QSL card is available, printed in full colour on heavy high quality paper.

I've received an eQSL from Cold Beer Radio - a new station making his first broadcast on 48 metres on Friday night. 

In his email he said: "It's an AM DDS Transmitter with 20w pep  tunable from 0-30MHz running into an Inverted V antenna 9m high between the House and two Trees. At the moment I'm busy with building an small amplifier and some Low Pass Filters for different bands."

Part two of FRS Holland's Summer Splash broadcast tomorrow

Tomorrow (July 31) sees part 2 of FRS Holland's of the Summer Splash. Similar to last Sunday programmes will run from 19- 21 UTC/ 21- 23 CEST.

For latest news about frequencies please check  our website! Last Sunday we had to move twice. As 5800 was not available we were forced to switch to 5810. Then we moved to 5790 due to an annoying whistle. On 7700 there was a strong buzz with wide splattering. Therefore we used 7715 instead.

Our intention is to start on 7700//5800 but remember we might switch to adjacent channels if the situation occurs that a frequency cannot be used. Last but not least: we won't be using 6185 but are happy to announce instead the use of 3940 kHz. 6185 will again be used during part 3 of our Summer Splash on August 7th. Good listening!
