PIRATES OF THE IRISH SEA EXHIBITION EXTENDED
Andy Wint reports that The Pirates Of The Irish Sea exhibition at The House of Manannan in Peel, [Isle of Man] mentioned in recent editions of Contact [World DX Club bulletin], has now been extended from the end of March to the end of this Summer. The exact date has not been announced yet.
He comments; "I know many people from off-Island wanted to see it again and this should provide ample opportunity whilst the Steam Packet boats are running a summer timetable to UK, Eire and Ulster.
It will also mean that the many thousands of TT 2009 visitors will get the opportunity to absorb the 'Caroline North' experience and spread the word across the globe.
Matthew Richardson at Manx National Heritage continues to keep the Caroline North flame alight and is delighted that MNH is the only heritage organisation in the world to have an museum-standard archive on offshore radio. He and I are very happy to receive information enquiries and memories to add to the record."

Dutch Radio Day 2009
For 30 years, the annual Dutch "Radio Day" has been a "must" for all (offshore) radio experts and enthusiasts. About 350 people are normally attending the event each year.
The 2004 Radio Day saw the Radio Caroline 1973/74 reunion with many former deejays, technicians and crew members, and in 2005, "RNI in 1970" attracted several former Radio North Sea employees who had a magnificent discussion on the podium.
In November 2006, the Voice of Peace reunion formed a major highlight, as 20 former VoP jocks and technicians got together from all over the world.
But the biggest event ever was the 2007 one with 450 visitors. We listened to Tom Mulder (Klaas Vaak) and saw the Swinging Radio England reunion. And we were fascinated to hear Johnnie Walker, Robbie Dale, Roger Day and other well known jocks telling their stories on Radio Caroline after Monday August 14th 1967...
In 2007 we also introduced the "Radio Day Awards" as a bi-annual event to acclaim the efforts of several special people who stood up for free radio without governmental control.
The 2008 Radio Day included an in-depth interview with Radio Atlantis' Adriaan van Landschoot and saw "Radio Caroline in the late seventies (1977-80)" as a main topic. Four panels discussed that exciting era just before the MV Mi Amigo sank in March 1980. This included nearly all the English and Dutch colleagues who worked for the legendary offshore radio station around thirty years ago. Again it became a big class reunion.
Hans Knot, Rob Olthof and Martin van der Ven have been busily planning this year's event taking place on Saturday 14th November 2009.
We will meet again in Amsterdam's Hotel Casa 400 near the Amstel railway station (James Wattstraat 75) from 11:00 till 17:00 CET (which is Dutch local time). Doors will be open from 10:30. Admission is 12,50 ?.
More details on this year's schedule to be announced during the next few months. In 2010, you will find us in the new Casa building not far way from the old one.
