First pirate station closed by UK authorities in 1934
Brothers Gerald and Wilfred Barker of Norwich are forced to close their radio station down by the BBC: they recount the tale. First pirate radio station closed down by post office authorities.

Dutch authorities get tough with radio pirates
Radiocommunications Agency Netherlands will soon launch a new tougher policy to deal with pirate radio stations, according to a report in De Telegraaf. The illegal broadcasters may soon have a fine of 2,500 euros imposed on them as soon as half an hour after they receive a warning letter.

Unlicensed broadcasting now illegal in New York State
Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed legislation making the operation of an AM or FM radio station without a license illegal in the state of New York. Violations will be treated as a “Class A” misdemeanour. The new law gives local law enforcement an important tool to protect consumers and stem the tide of illegal radio operation in New York.
