Cool AM-Mix Radio Int & Radio Mondeo eQSLs

I received an eQSL for a programme marking the 76th anniversary of D-Day co-produced by Cool AM Radio and Mix Radio International. The show was relayed via Mix's transmitter in the USA and the eQSL came via Cool AM. I heard it on an SDR in SW England.

I also received an eQSL from Dutch medium wave pirate Radio Mondeo. He was logged on June 7 on 1633 kHz in QSO with Radio Alabama.

Summer free radio gathering cancelled

The annual get-together for free radio fans and pirate radio operators in the Netherlands has been cancelled because of the Covid-19 emergency.

The Shortwave Combination Holland (SWCH) was organising this summer's event. But in a statement on their website, SWCH said the crisis has made it impossible for social distancing rules to be maintained if too many attended.

"We are very sorry to inform you of this, we would have liked to continue the Summer BBQ meeting, but the 1.5 meter measure is taking this opportunity away. We look forward to seeing you at the Summer BBQ meeting next year."

The annual summer meeting has proved a popular event in the free radio calendar giving listeners and operators from across Europe a chance to meet up and chat about radio over a few beers.

Disappointment for Radio Igloo

Last time we were on air with our Radio Igloo Show we received more than 60 reception-reports and
many audio clips. Many listeners also told us they appreciated our program with music of various kinds.

We were therefore inspired to make a new music-show and asked 11 of our most diligent listeners and reporters around the world to help us. We asked them to record and send us a short audio file introducing themselves and the song they chose.

Our disappointment was great when only one single listener sent us an audio file. One listener has promised, but not delivered. One listener told us he can not record an audio-clip. Two listeners have refused to help us. The rest have not responded at all.

With such a lack of interest in helping us, we have decided not to produce any more programs of this kind. Maybe we will shut down the business completely. There are many another things we can spend our time on.

We wish you all a nice corona-free summer

Texas Radio Shortwave announces broadcast schedule for rest of 2020

Texas Radio Shortwave, an American free radio station, has announced its formal broadcast schedule for the rest of 2020.

These broadcasts are aimed at European listeners and usually will feature music by Texas artists. The first three programs will highlight Buddy Holly, Willie Nelson, and Roy Orbison.

Channel 292 in Germany will transmit the hour-long programs at 0900 UTC on 6070 kHz with a power of 10 kW. Broadcasts are scheduled on the third Saturday of each month. Those dates are June 20, July 18, August 15, September 19, October 17, November 21, and December 19. Channel 292 will broadcast a special program at 1900 UTC on December 25, 2020, on the same frequency.

Texas Radio Shortwave will schedule programs on other dates, times, and stations to reach listeners in North America and Europe.

Texas Radio Shortwave verifies 100 percent of all correct, detailed reception reports. The station often issues special, limited-edition eQSLs for its programs.

Reception reports must include times, song titles, the text of announcements, a SINPO/SIO signal rating, information on receiver and antenna, and comments on the program content.

Listeners using remote software-defined receivers (SDRs) should mention that. Texas Radio
Shortwave would like to receive audio clips of the broadcasts along with the detailed reports.Reports should be sent to texasradiosw@gmail.com.

Texas Radio Shortwave is located on a ship anchored in the Gulf of Mexico off the South Texas coast. Its programs are broadcast in North America and Europe.
