Bogusman raided

MW Free Radio (Wizard Radio) reports on his Twitter feed: "News reaching us that British
shortwave pirate Bogusman was today raided by
Ofcom after transmitting on international distress frequency
6312 kHz. More to follow..."

Source: MW Free Radio on Twitter

Bogusman & The Ghoul have been some of the most regular of the British shortwave pirates with broadcasts most weekends and recently been testing at the top  end of medium wave. But it shows stations need to careful what frequencies they broadcast on.

Am shocked that the "DTI" have nothing better to do; they're obviously still into 'controlling the controllables'. I especially feel for the site operator, but all the best to everyone involved.

Really? You cannot see anything wrong transmitting on an international distress frequency?

No ifs, no buts, no maybes. You don't transmit on 6215 or 6312. Period. No excuses.

also avoid 6268 or any frequencies near them .... especially if broadcasting all day

Yeah, in response to my post at 0853, fair comment regarding avoiding certain frequencies to keep a quiet life. I guess, but don't know, that Ofcom have only acted after it became something of a repeat offence.

Ofcom usually only act if complaints are received, so I guess Mr Bogus must have been causing problems.

Merlin got raided many years ago on the 23 Dec for using 6240khz the DTI at the time told us it was a bad frequency to use

Hello Paul. Was it 6239 that Galaxy used to broadcast on? So long ago I can barely remember.

yes it was Galaxy also Merlin the DTI said we had been reported for using 6239 6240 .I was told by Ofcom to stay clear of it .That's why when we came back on we use 6305khz

Very bad news about the raid. How are us Bogusfans going to know what Malcolm's doing in the garden? Or what's in the quality press? Let's hope we hear him back in some form soon.

It seems everything was taken, including the paper he was reading. But they didn't get the transmitter which was hidden
