FRS Holland this Sunday

Dear FRS Friend,

Following lengthy preparations the time has come to celebrate 30 years of FRS-Holland on SW.
Next Sunday October 31st we kick off with the first out of a total of 3 different broadcasts. The FRS Anthology !

Factual, accurate, ups and downs....countless extracts, former presenters, listeners' contributions, a competition, fact files, the FRS Story and great 80s music. Next Sunday in part 1 we will feature 1980- 1987. The first eventful 7 years.

Here's the schedule:
08.52- 15.00 UTC 7600//5800 kHz
09.00-11.00 UTC and 12.00- 16.00 UTC 6005 kHz

That means that between 11.00-12.00 UTC there won't be any signal on 6005 kHz. As from 12.00 UTC onwards 6005 is back and will be one hour behind of 7600//5800 kHz.

The October 31st broadcast will be streamed between 14:52- 21:00 UTC/ 15:52- 22:00 CET via < http://nednl.net:8000/frsh.m3u>

The period 1988- 2010 will be featured in part 2 (late November) and part 3 (December).

We have received quite a number of contributions. If you feel you want to be part of the celebrations with your personal FRS memories: you can still do so as we can include that in one of the two broadcasts which follow after the October 31st one.

Of course we have special QSLs for the three broadcasts...one based on the 80s, one on the 90s and one on the 00s.

"Although we are all disappointed that Radio St. Helena had to cancel its annual Radio St. Helena Day broadcast on 11,092.5 kHz, I have been informed that there will be a substitute transmission one week later from Pirate Radio St. Helena.

The faux Radio St. Helena plans to operate on the familiar 11092.5 kHz at 2300 UT on Saturday, October 16th. You can contact the station during its program by using the following e-mail address: piratesainthelena @ gmail.com The station is busy building a special dipole antenna designed for just this transmission so reception should be good provided propagation cooperates.

With decks and mixer balancing precariously on top of a homemade transmitter jammed between the sink and the cooker of his friend's 18th floor flat, Geeneus leant out of the window, pointed his aerial towards Hackney – and turned the music up loud.

Sixteen years, countless rooftop broadcasts and dozens of brushes with the law later, Rinse FM, often called the most influential pirate station on air and credited with bringing artists such as Dizzee Rascal and grime star Wiley to the public consciousness, is finally going legit, to the slightly bemused delight of its 32-year-old founder. "Getting the licence gave me the strangest feelings. Nothing don't faze me ... but that did," he said.

Nessie pirate station plan has Facebook page pulled

A Facebook page belonging to the White Witch, Kevin Carlyon, has been closed by the social networking site. Mr Carlylon plans to set up a pirate radio transmitter on the shores of Loch Ness in Scotland to summon up the spirit of the mythical Loch Ness monster 'Nessie.'

He had been using his Facebook site to gather support for his plan. An additional problem is that the airline was not happy for him to include a large battery and transmitting equipment in his luggage.

Councillor calls for police to use pirate radio for appeals

POLICE appeals should be broadcast on pirate radio stations [in London] to help crack criminal cases, it has been claimed.
Lewisham Lib Dem Councillor Duwayne Brooks has urged police to start using the unlicensed stations. Cllr Brooks, 35, who is also Lewisham Community Police Consultative Group vice chairman, made the call.

The Met has said raising awareness of crimes is a “complex challenge”, but has ruled out using the stations because they are illegal.

Pirate radio plan to attract Loch Ness Monster

THE high priest of UK white witches plans to high-jack the radio air waves and blast out monster music songs on the banks of Loch Ness in a bizarre bid to summon Nessie [the mythical Loch Ness Monster].

Paranormal researcher Kevin Carlyon, who is the self-styled protector of the Loch Ness Monster, will be creating his own "pirate radio" to transmit 10 music hits which he believes will get the spirit of the monster "in the mood" to make an appearance.

It has been a quiet year so far for sightings for the elusive Nessie, but the white witch's stunt could cause a ripple at the end of the tourist season.

He plans to play the hits to the monster in an illegal FM broadcast and also strategically place half a dozen radios around the banks of Loch Ness which he believes the spirit of the monster will hear.

Radio pirate who sparked terror alert

A man has been jailed for 150 days after equipment used for his pirate radio station in Kent was found on top of a water tower, leading to a terrorism scare.
Dozens of residents had to be evacuated from the area around Bluebell Hill in Chatham while a controlled explosion was carried out on July 4 last year.

Hello FRS-Holland Friends,

In the meantime FRS-Holland has officially become 30 Years. That was on Tuesday August 31st. Following our previous mail from a few weeks ago, we have received a number of contributions.

We would like to inform you we still hope to receive some more.....if you are/ were an enthusiast FRS listener, then take your chance to produce a little personal contribution, your personal FRS memories.

Either you put them
1) on a sheet of paper or
2) send them by mail and
3) most wanted: record your personal message and send an mp3 audio file.

We realize most listeners are no deejays and do not have no recording facilities. Of course any written contribution is as much appreciated as a recorded one!!

All listener's contributions will be collected and together it will be our anthology of 30 years of SW broadcasts. When did you hear us for the first time, what was your favorite show, when did you get your first QSL, how much did you listen to FRS, any special on air moments you remember? All this info could be part of your personal FRS contribution.

Preparations continue day by day... Many tape recordings have been digitalized and endless audio extracts have been produced. The broadcast will contain many ingredients...special jingles, a listener's competition, interesting contributions, fantastic music and some nice surprises...

London pirate operator fined

A CHINGFORD man who operated a pirate radio station from his home which interfered with TV signals has been fined.
Paul Hampshire, of York Road, appeared at Waltham Forest Magistrates' Court yesterday where he admitted setting up Unknown FM.
He was fined £350 and told to pay more than £5,000 court costs.
Ofcom was alerted when several residents in South Chingford called to complain that their satellite televisions could not pick up BBC1 and BBC2.
