Merry Christmas

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Many thanks for all your support for this blog over the past year. It has been a good year for free radio with plenty of activity on 48 metres (and elsewhere) keeping things interesting.

Nice to hear Laser back to 24 hour operation (even though propagation has not been too kind) and some great programmes from Weekend Music Radio.

The Dutch stations always there to keep us entertained and keeping the free radio flag flying.

I wonder what 2008 will bring?

While on the subject of forums, while checking out the Alfa Lima forum this morning I was shocked at the amount of spam in the message boards, mainly the first one - Pirates Shortwave.

I know the moderators are busy people with lives to lead but could someone go in every day and just clear this rubbish off. Also don't click on these postings - it will just encourage the spammers to post more if they think people are looking at it.

Even better would be to find a solution to stopping it altogether.

NY Eve broadcast

Hello all,

RECH (Radio East Coast Holland) will do it again on shortwave and medium wave together with the VOTN (Voice of the Netherlands) on New Year's Eve.

On medium wave we can use the TX of Radio Vrijdrenthe on 1476Khz with about 300watts.

On shortwave we will use the 100 watts of votn. We start around 0900utc and we close about 1600utc.

But is is live so maybe we will do it a little bit longer. We have two hot live telephone numbers ECH 0031-625 426 740, votn 0031-623 968 182 and also two e-mail addresses votn @ planet.nl and eastcoastholland @ hotmail.com.

Hopefully you will listening on 31-12-2007 again.

It's time once again for our special Christmas show on shortwave!
Last year's show was a great success and everyone enjoyed it.

This year we decided to open up the e-mail address early so that you could write in with your requests, dedications, or simple a greeting for inclusion in the show!

This is a busy time of year here at the North Pole, so write as soon as you can!
