Italian free radio stations to celebrate World Radio Day

On February 13, let's celebrate free radio together on the occasion of World Radio Day! Tune in to MRI as well as Italian Broadcasting Corporation and Radio Europe! Thank you for your participation!

Greetings from Italy!

On February 13, Marconi Radio International celebrates the  role of free shortwave radio on the occasion of World Radio Day. That's why we have produced, in cooperation with other two free radios of Italy, Radio Europe  and IBC – Italian Broadcasting Corporation, a special 1 hour show in Italian.

This day of celebration is also an opportunity to remember why we love free  radio, to highlight the power of this medium to bring people together and to share this with shortwave enthusiasts.

With this in mind, we invite SWLs  to listen  not only to Marconi Radio International on 11390 kHz but also Italian Broadcasting Corporation on 6970 kHz and Radio Europe on 6875 kHz. These shortwave stations  will in fact carry over the air, next Saturday at different times, that special programme which includes interviews with people behind the operation of the three free radios.

As usual MRI, which this Saturday, 13 February 2016,  will be on the air from 09.00 to 14.00 UTC on 11390 kHz with 30 watts, encourages reception reports from listeners. Audio clips (mp3-file) of our broadcasts  are welcome! We QSL 100%.

Ocean Radio - pirate radio 200 yards off Worthing

Ray of the Radio Workshop with the very amusing and well told story of offshore radio station Ocean Radio, which transmitted with 10 watts on medium wave one Sunday 200 yards from Worthing Beach (on the south coast of England), and how the GPO raid when the operator came back in was unsuccessful.

New relay for Hobart Radio Int

The Shortwave Service in Germany just announced that Hobart Radio International will be broadcast via their transmitters for the first time this weekend, the details are below:

Hobart Radio International will be on air over our transmitters for the first time on Sunday.
