Test broadcast via Channel 292 this Wednesday

Dear friends,

Christmas is near, and our schedule shows, that the holidays are really crowded. Due to the conditions during the winter, some stations moved to daylight hours:
http://www.channel292.de/schedule-for-bookings/

Some new or well known programs can be heard (again), too: Hobart Radio from Australia, from Sweden the Swedish DX Federation, from Germany SM Radio Dessau, and Blueman Radio is one more. Surely these stations would be happy to get your reports!

And we have a request, not only for the listeners in German speaking areas:
Starting in 2017, a new station from the northern part of Germany wants to fill shortwave with life for some hours per day. They are still looking for a good partner to bring their program on air with a good and strong signal.

To check this, they will run a test program this coming week on Wednesday the 23rd, at 1400 CET = 1300 UTC on 6070 kHz.

We know that for a lot of listeners this will not be a good time to tune in, but all the others, who are able to listen, should send reception reports to the address mentioned in the program. Please let them know how good and strong (as we hope) you receive our signal!

If this test for them shows a positive result, it would be a big step forward for our station; maybe we even could run a second frequency in the 49 meter band.

We count on you!!

Global Pirate Weekend

Message from Andrew Yoder:

Hi,
I'm just writing with a reminder about the Global HF Pirate weekend is just starting. This is the revival of an idea from a few years ago: Stations broadcast on high frequencies in an effort to be heard across long distances and in different continents. I've heard from a few stations, received a schedule from one, and have heard from a few listeners in countries without many stations. So, I have hope that we'll all have a good time by the shortwave radios over the next 48 hours or so.

November 5-6, 2016
General frequency ranges:
15010-15100 kHz
21455-21550 kHz

Basic schedule:
European morning, 0800-1200 UTC from Europe to Asia/Japan/Oceania.
European afternoon, 1200-1600 UTC from Europe to North American and vice versa.
European night, 2200-2400 UTC from North America to Asia/Oceania.

Of course, these are general frequency ranges where pirates have broadcast during prior Global HF Pirate weekends. Some stations will surely operate on frequencies and times outside of these ranges. These will be updated on HF Underground and on the Hobby Broadcasting blog (http://hobbybroadcasting.blogspot.com/) as schedules are received from stations.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks & have a great weekend!
Andrew

Non Stop 90s Radio to cease broadcasting

Much hyped pirate radio station Non-Stop 90s is closing down its transmitters today (Oct 31)  after a year of broadcasting across much of Ireland.

At 7pm on Bank Holiday Monday 31st October 2016 the station – heard on 107.1FM in Dublin, 104.2FM in the North East, 87.7FM in the North West, 1494AM in Dublin and 6205SW across Ireland and the UK – will turn the TXs off.

RadioToday understands a number of legal stations in Dublin have been complaining about the station, campaigning for it to be closed down for fear of them taking revenue away.

The programme schedule, according to its website, includes Enda Caldwell at breakfast, Vinny S, Ronan Devitt, Louise Jordan, Ter Fitz and John Troy on Lates. Weekends included Greg James, Mark Byrne, Tracy Lee and Gary Cruz.

Non-Stop 90s has a purpose built studio and has built up a large following and profit since it started.

I believe the station is now applying for a license from the Irish authorities.

Radio Six International shortwave broadcasts

Per the station website:

During the latter part of the 2000s, we broadcast regularly on shortwave via transmitters around the globe. Since then, many international broadcasters have discontinued broadcasting on the HF bands, as we did in 2007. Is there a future for shortwave radio? We carried out a one-off two-hour shortwave broadcast on Saturday 25th April 2015 and Saturday March 19th, 2016 from Roerbach in Germany.

We'd be grateful for your reception reports and will verify by e-QSL card or, if you mail us one Euro or two US Dollars, we'll mail you a proper QSL card! All reports received electronically to date have been verified with eQSLs and copies of Radio News.

Radio Six International now also produces regular programming for European Music Radio which is broadcast regularly on shortwave. The next transmissions are as follows:

Saturday 19th November 2016:
21.00 to 22.00 UTC on 7,490 kHz - Central & North America via WBCQ

Saturday 17th December 2016:
21.00 to 22.00 UTC on 7,490 kHz - Central & North America via WBCQ

Sunday 18th December 2016:
08.00 to 09.00 UTC on 9,475 kHz - Southern Europe, Portugal and Spain via KBC
08.00 to 09.00 UTC on 6,045 kHz - Western Europe & UK via KBC
09.00 to 10.00 UTC on 9,485 kHz - Western Europe & UK via MV Baltic Radio
20.00 to 21.00 UTC on 6,070 kHz - Western Europe & UK via Channel 292

Radio Casanova eQSL

Great eQSL received from Radio Casanova. Many thanks!

Former Irish pirate to close

Dublin's alternative music station TXFM closes tomorrow  (Wednesday 26th) after only two and a half years on air.

TXFM began as Phantom, a pirate station which went on air in 1996 and was licensed ten years later. The station suffered badly in the Irish economic crash of 2008 and was part-acquired by media giant Communicorp and re-launched as TXFM in 2014.

However in March of this year Communicorp announced that it was pulling the plug. Following the closure there will be no  commercial FM station in Ireland dedicated to alternative music. The last hours of TXFM can be heard on 105.2 FM in Dublin and on www.txfm.ie.
