The Italian Group Free Wave organize for you, a radiophonic contest that will be on air on shortwaves QRG in Amplitude Modulation. The Game it is very simple.

“ TAKE THE MESSAGE “

Each free station will be on air on different moments and each one will be on air on his own QRG, transmitting a single part of a complete message in Italian and English, that is ever the same.
Your challenge is recreating the complete message !

All parts of the message start with a particular advising sound for all free stations.

Pirate radio in the 1980s exhibition

Institute of Contemporary Arts update yesterday

"Shout Out! UK Pirate Radio in the 1980s", a new exhibition, will premiere at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent in February before travelling to the ICA  (in London) in May  and onwards to the Phoenix in Leicester in August.

Creative Works announced today that funding has been granted for "a series of talks and workshops at the Institute of Contemporary Arts exploring the legacy of radio as a forum for radical thought and experimentation." presumably in connection with the exhibition.

Unlicensed religious broadcaster ordered off the air

The FCC has ordered an unlicensed California religious broadcaster, who sometimes broadcast on a frequency in the 40 meter phone band, to shut down his station

The ARRL report:
The FCC’s Los Angeles District Office on December 31 issued a Notice of Unlicensed Operation to Martin K. Elliott of Inyokern, California.
The FCC said it issued the Notice in response to a complaint of unlicensed operation on multiple HF frequencies, including some allocated to aeronautical stations.

The FCC said its agents used radio direction-finding techniques to confirm that signals on 6280 kHz and 11595 kHz were emanating from a residence located near Inyokern, and that property records indicated that Elliott was the current owner and resident.

“The Commission’s records show that no license was issued for operation of a station on either the frequencies of 6280 kHz or 11595 kHz at this location,” the FCC wrote. “Unlicensed operation of this radio station must be discontinued immediately.”

The pirate station, which identified itself as “YHWH,” was not cited for operating on Amateur Radio frequencies, although ARRL Official Observers had monitored the station in the past on 7185 kHz LSB.
One short-wave listener said the operator of YHWH changed frequencies regularly, and the station had not been heard on the ham bands for at least several months.

Radio Spaceshuttle will have new two hours transmission (test) on Sunday 25th January 2015, 13:00-15:00 UTC. We shall have simultaneous transmission  on 6035 kHz 49 mb AM and 9865 kHz 31 mb AM/SSB.

Program will include:
'Spaceshuttle's Archives Wide Open' some information and historical facts of Radio Spaceshuttle's actions throughout years.
'SpaceWarrior HotMix' various good music,
'FinnPop Extra' including some famous and partly rarities in Finnish language mostly!

I'll post more information about what's in this book tomorrow, but I can say that it's 178 pages and will contain an audio CD with clips from 70 different stations.

International postage keeps increasing at ridiculous rates, so I'll check on those costs soon. The last I checked, they got rid of international book rate and now it's something like 9 or $10 to ship to Canada and something like $12 to $15 to send to the rest of the world."

In the night from Saturday to Sunday (Jan. 17/18), we will be on air all night long to check if and where we might be heard during nighttime. Recordings of Radio Comintern, Russia

The Bulgarian DX blog posted some recordings of the Communist Party of Russia Radio Comintern, heard on 6989.9 kHz with power of 1 kW. I'm guessing this is a pirate transmitter.
