Ultra-rare Radio Britannia heard in London

There are not many medium wave pirates operating in the UK, but one that's been going for many years is Radio Britannia from South Yorkshire, in the north of England. Now the station has been logged in London, 175 miles away, on its frequency of 1476 kHz.

Men behind Huddersfield pirate radio station in court

Two men have appeared in court after a pirate radio station was run from their two Huddersfield homes.
The illegal station, named Phatt FM, was broadcast for a month using properties including an Almondbury flat.
One of the caught men Philip Hnatkiwskyj - known as DJ Niceness - has been a disc jockey for 25 years and previously worked for hospital radio in the town [in West Yorkshire].
The men's prosecutions, brought by Ofcom, were so unusual that magistrates had no guidelines to consult when sentencing them.
