A couple of rarities (for me) heard late on Monday night / Tuesday (Christmas Eve) morning on the remote SDR near Lublin in Poland:

On 1637 was Radio Bluebird from the Netherlands, putting in a good signal with some slow fading. Music was polka, schlager and old Dutch pop hits, and announcements in Dutch and English.

On 1730 kHz was a station playing house music and identifying as Radio Monte-Carlo. I did a quick Google search and there was a bit of old chatter on the HF Underground message board about this station. A number of board users suggested that it was different from the Zender Monte-Carlo that originates in the Netherlands and which has a different music format. Up towards 1800 kHz there were a couple of Russian pirates just QSOing (that seems to be more of the scene there), but on 1744 kHz at 0030hrs a station switched on playing music which sounded Russian or Slavic. The signal was strong on the Polish SDR and the music was of a folk / trad style.

I am not sure how anyone can be enthused by countless identikit Dutch stations but each to their own, isn't it.

I live more in hope than expectation that some UK stations come back for the festive season. It is good to see the likes of Cuckoo, Parade, and Pamela are still giving it a good go.

Oops, and an honourable mention too for Focus.

Radio Focus International is on over Christmas on 5805 kHz, maybe XTC will make another of his rare appearances, while Pandora & Bogusman/The Ghoul might also make broadcasts over the festive period. I think stations like Armadillo and Weekend Music Radio are long gone and unlikely to return .... but you never know!

On medium wave the Dutch pirates don't go much above 1670, after which the Greek and Balkan pirates tend to take over.

The HF Underground forum have a section for MW Free Radio .... it might be worth posting your observations there, Anon 1 (https://www.hfunderground.com/board/index.php). There are some members of that forum from Eastern Europe who might be able to shed more light on the stations you heard.

If they are reading this regards to Jack Russel, Bill Lewis, Steve Midnight and Paul Stuart. Great FR memories from yesteryear.
