On August 6th, Radio Igloo and Malmö Shortwave Club will be on air with a remade program about the
pirate-queen Britt Wadner and Radio Syd. The program will be transmitted from WRMI on 5950 at 00.00 hours GMT (02.00 CEST)

The program will mix music from the early 60s with information and audio-clips from Radio Syd.

FRS Summer Splash to take to airwaves next month

Dear FRS Friends!

The time has finally come... After a (too...) long break, FRS-Holland will return to the airwaves in July/August.

A combination of circumstances forced us to be inactive for more than 6 months. We do regret this inactivity but with new energy we will soon return to the shortwave airwaves.

Good news: all familiar FRS voices will join: Jan, Mike, Bert, Dave & Peter V.

Important: our website frsholland.nl will be offline for a while because we switch to a new provider. That implies we will build a new site starting in July/ August.

At the same time you cannot check our website for the latest details regarding the FRS Summer Splash.

In this mail we will supply the most important information, share it with any radio friend/ colleague! We hope those who run a blog will share the info with their readers. Thanks in advance!!

Many of you would have heard the old recordings of Weekend Music Radio running over past few weeks on 6295 (and thereabouts). Now Jack Russell of WMR has produced a new show and has invited the mystery station to relay it for him.

On his website Jack writes: "This weekend has been the 3rd weekend that the fake WMR has been on the air. It was heard Saturday and Sunday 29th and 30th April on 6284kHz, and this last two weeks on 6295 ish. Last weekend the signal really was booming out. 6295 is a great channel since Reflections Europe seem to be off air for now. Last weekend, the signal was superb armchair quality most of the late afternoon and evening.

"The fake WMR has been on the air since 2000, and often popped up at this time of year.

"This year we thought we would try a little experiment and see if the fake WMR wants to stick out new shows. So for a trial, there is a link below to a new show, recorded on 14th May 2023, There has never been any communication with the operator of this transmitter, so he may not be interested. But if he is, then I would guess this would turn the fake WMR into a real WMR!!

"In actual fact, the fake WMR did broadcast current shows in the past, but only after they had their first airing via the WMR transmitters. (These WMR transmitters are in quite a state of disrepair at this time, and need a bit of work done to make them work again, as did the studio recently!!) So the only difference this time is they have not been aired by WMR first.

"Confused?? Not nearly as much as I will be if these shows get an airing and listeners start to want a QSL from an unknown location....lol..."
