Red Sands Radio
Red Sands Radio broadcasting from the Red Sands Fort in the North Sea, seven miles from Whitstable in Kent, has gone on the air. The station will be broadcasting on 1278kHz until July 23, having been given a temporary licence by Ofcom.
The station is commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Marine Offences Act which saw the closure of most of the offshire pirates in 1967. The wartime structures were used by several stations between 1964 and 1967.

Busy evening for a Tuesday...
3900: West Coast Radio heard @ 2210 with what he said was "gothic and alternative music." Fair signal here. SINPO 34333.
3927: Radio Spaceman with his usual mighty signal. Heard @ 2035 playing Kate Bush "Wuthering Heights." SINPO 54444.
6286: Radio Doctor Tim heard @ 2045 with reports to Northpole and Brandaris. Quite a good signal from Germany! SINPO 34333.
6295: Radio Northpole @ 2020 with schlager. Sounded like there was a station underneath. SINPO 33433.
6295: Radio Brandaris heard @ 2030 calling Northpole and Bonofox. SINPO 33433.
6300: Radio Northpole playing schlager @ 1840, the usual co-channel QRM from the Western Sahara clandestine. Best in usb. SINPO 32432.
6305: Radio Boomerang @ 1845 calling Northpole, usual strong signal. SINPO 44444.
6312: Radio Bonofox (tent) playing schlager @ 1850. SINPO 34333. (Didn't have time to wait for an ID - time for my dinner!).

3900: Radio Jimmy heard in QSO with Radio Pacman @ 2007. Pacman said he was on low power. Some ssb and utility noise on the frequency. SINPO for both 33333.
3913: Unid station heard @ 2013 playing Dire Straits "Sultans of Swing." Good signal but some utility splash. No ID heard. SINPO 43433.
3929: West Coast Radio with rock music followed by station jingles @ 2230. Good signal. SINPO 44333.

Poor conditions so far today with very few stations heard:
3927: Radio Spaceman with his usual strong signal @ 1950, playing schlager, greeting Axel in Germany. SINPO 44444.
3945: Weekend Music Radio with Jack reading listeners' letters and emails @ 1945. SINPO 34333.
6200: Radio Rapido heard @ 0950 thanking listeners who had contacted the station, playing rock music. Sounded like English station but weak signal. SINPO 23432. (Confirmed by station)
6210: Radio Geronimo heard @ 0810 playing rock music, advert for the British DX Club, then a feature about Radio Caroline. SINPO 34433.
6220: Mystery Radio heard @ 1510 with pop and jingle IDs. SINPO 34433.
6265: Premier Radio Int playing the song "I Drove All Night" @ 0830. SINPO 34433.
6270: Radio Zeelandia heard playing Shadows "Apache" @ 1955 before announcing he was closing down. SINPO 34333.
6306: Radio Brandaris Int with schlager @ 0820. Also announced a new website at http://www.radiobrandaris.com/ although the site is still under construction. SINPO 34433.
6325: Radio Merlin Int just faded in, heard @ 0920 playing Duran Duran, greeting Michael from Poland. SINPO 34433.
6400: Weekend Music Radio heard @ 1500 playing the Rolling Stones "Paint it Black." SINPO 34433. Listening to WMR now @ 2145 - signal is S9+20dB - SINPO 55544!
