Congratulations to Laser Hot Hits - 1990 was a good year and I spent a bit of it broadcasting to my estate on FM!

Your readers might like to know that the University of Twente Web SDR, whose original antenna was damaged last week, has now been fully fixed and is up to full reception strength. It's not terribly good for Western European shortwave pirates, although Radio Europe (Ukraine) and Mystery 21 Radio are often loud and clear. But the RX is in the middle of the Netherlands' pirate radio country and is great for listening to the broadcasts of Dutch stations - lots of them active during daylight hours as well as the night times we hear in the UK. :)

Thanks for that information. Looking at the Twente SDR chatbox, it seems to have been removed from its mounting but when the operator of the SDR went to investigate he found it lying on the roof and was able to reconnect it.

Paul you did not listen to Radio Igloo on 4860?

No I didn't .... I meant to record the broadcast but forgot :(

For me Lazer has often seemed more ILR than a risk-taking free radio operator. There is little to enthuse the purist when 24/7 broadcasting and internet streaming characterises its existence.

Laser is not formatted ILR (ILR does not exist now anyway) it is unlicenced and to manage 30 years of operation an achievement while subject to many DTI raids, some every weekend. Happy BIRTHDAY LHH!

You miss the point: what it is and what it sounds like are to me, two different things. I am not disputing it being unlicensed... I didn't know it was so frequently raided when on SW.

Laser started on FM. If you think it sounds like ILR, then you need your ears tested.
Is it professional? Yes.
Is it like ILR or like your usual big group radio ? No.

So are Pamela, Parade, XTC, without the need for internet streams and 24/7 output.
