It's nice to see that free radio stations are continuing to keep us all entertained with most of Europe staying at home right now. On a small Sony ICF recevier here in Bristol, I netted Harmony Radio and Laser Hot Hits with fading, but at times really strong signals during daylight hours.

On AM, I have had a number of stations coming through with great signals on the old portable set. Checking for exact frequencies on the University of Twente set, I got Radio Armada on 1673 kHz (great rock music, including the Doors - sadly signing off at 11.30 CET), Radio Barones on 1663 kHz playing a selection of Bob Dylan, some old time rock and roll on 1645 kHz, and Dutch oldies on 1620 kHz. At 11.37 CET, Radio Barones relocated to 1655 kHz. On 1700 kHz there was a signal playing what sounded like Irish traditional music, but I am guessing that it was a pirate from South Eastern Europe. On 1710 kHz, a gentleman was talking in Greek and inviting QSOs from other pirate operators.

Radio Mystery 21 on 4700 kHz was putting in a clear signal to the Twente Receiver. Occasionally I can hear it directly in Bristol, often early on a morning.

Finally, I know it's a legal hobby station, but the unmistakable voice of WMR's legendary Jack Russell was heard on "Shortwave Radio. DE" on 3975 kHz tonight! Nice to hear his musical selection once again.

Now the clocks have gone forward the 48 metres is staying open a lot later. I also noticed more pirates using 60 metres. Most of the stations I logged were below 6 MHz.

For many of us, we're used to staying in and listening to the radio!
