EMR off air for the forseeable future

Dear EMR Listeners,

Due to my cancer condition (non-Hodgkin Lymphoma) that was diagnosed in February 2017, I regret to tell you that EMR will be off air until further notice.

I hope to return EMR to the air at some point in 2018.

New station Torpoint Radio Worldwide via Channel 292

Good Evening Friends,

We are a new shortwave station called Torpoint Radio Worldwide.

We will be broadcasting on 6070khz EU tonight at short notice at 1900 UTC to listeners all over EU & UK. This will be a 2 hour live show and we will be sending a QSL card to every listener!!! We will allow reports from utwente for all the QSL hunters out there who wish to get the card once and move on!!!

Tonight 1900 UTC myself and Richard Barbella Cook will be on the air.

This is a regular every day live feed thanks to Rainer Ebling at C292 who has been most kind to us!

We will be looking forward the live report that we get in!

As usual the last Sunday of each month we present two hours with 100 kW of music-power, this time coming from the TX in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

In the first hour you will hear more of your soul-requests, presented by Bruno Hantson. In the second hour a new monthly magazine starts, called ‘Radio Mi Amigo Inside’, where you get all news about our station and you can get involved in the show.

Landbased pirate radio 1968-82

I came across this website after Mike Barraclough posted a link on Facebook and it might interest anyone who listened to the pirates on medium wave and shortwave in the 1970s.

It has been put together by the former operator of Skyport Radio and particularly focuses on stations which operated in the London area during that time.

Among stations featured are Radio Jackie, Radio Concord, Skyport Radio and Swinging Radio England (1974-77), but many more are mentioned.

In additions there's photos, stickers and posters, plus copies of articles from Time Out, Free Radio Magazine and Free Radio Focus from that time.

Jack of Radio Morning Star dies at 71

I have just come back from a few days away to read of the sad news of the death of Jack Donio, the operator of Radio Morning Star. He was an enthusiastic radio operator, who transmitted low power broadcasts on shortwave and medium wave. His first transmission was way back in 1958! He also broadcast his programmes online.

May you rest in peace, Jack.
