Late night listen on the Twente SDR receiver, came across Monte Carlo Radio with ID at 2312 on 1646. Nice mix of Dutch and oldies. SINPO 55544.

The second strongest signal was a Greek station on 1615 with traditional Greek music. Must have been putting out some power. Heard at 2305 with 44433.

Dozens of pirate radio raids

Dozens of raids against pirate radio broadcasters have been mounted in Islington and Hackney [London] this year but they have not stopped one frustrated listener from hearing pumping bass when he tries to tune into a classical station (photo).

Squads from government watchdog The Office of Communications (Ofcom), known as spectrum enforcement teams, have swooped on illegal stations 49 times since January.

Many are repeat offenders that have faced action time and again, including one known as Passion FM that has been targeted four times when transmitting from sites in the EC1 and N1 postcodes.
Ofcom said there were 40 raids in Islington, against 12 different stations, and nine operations in Hackney.

The figures were obtained by the Gazette following the trials of a reader who struggled to tune in to classical station BBC Radio Three.

Long Live Radio to return

Hello!
The LLR was absent on short waves during several months due to the
troubles with the antenna. But recently our antenna has been repaired
so we can continue free radio mission now.
In current broadcast season we are going to transmit on IRREGULAR
basis on week-days from 1700 till 1945 UTC (start time may vary) on
the frequency of 5780 kHz or about. Any reception reports, reaction or
suggestions are welcome. New series of the eQSLs will be available
soon.

Eastern Europe...

FRS Holland this Sunday

Dear FRS Friends,
Sunday October 28th
Summer has gone and autumn is ruling. Propagation conditions have improved during day time.
Time to expand some activity. We have planned a full almost 6 hour broadcast upcoming Sunday October 28th.
 In preparation to that, we tested on 7600 kHz Sunday October 14th. Although conditions weren't satisfactory,  results were satisfactory and we are confident next Sunday a good signal will be aired over the European airwaves.

Sunday October 28th FRS-Holland will be on air between 08:52- 14:30 UTC/ 09:52- 15:30 CET. Remember on Sunday winter time comes into force!!

The broadcast is on 5800//7600 kHz. Programme line-up includes all FRS presenters (except Paul Graham) and consists of FRS Magazine, the German Service, FRS Goes DX , Radio Waves and the FRS Golden Show. FRS Holland on Sunday

Dear FRS Friends,

Summer has gone and autumn is ruling. Propagation conditions have  reached to a satisfactory level.
Time to expand some activity. In preparation to full programming, we have planned a test on 7600 kHz/ 39 metres on Sunday October 14th 07:52- 10:00 UTC/ 09:52- 12:00 CEST.

We are understandably curious about reception on 7600 kHz.
We'd love to hear from you, either by mail [frs@frsholland.nl] or via POBox 2702, 6049 ZG Herten, the Netherlands.

 FRS-Holland will take to the air with full programming on Sun October 28th 08:52- 14:30 UTC/ 09:52- 15:30 CET. That day winter time will come into force. In the afternoon there will be an audio stream via Internet starting at 15:52 CET.

Rinse FM celebrates 18th birthday

DJ Geeneus is remembering the first ever Rinse FM radio broadcast, as a pirate station, in September 1994. "One of my friends got their first flat, so we were like, Great, we'll stick the studio in the kitchen, 'cause you're not going to be using your kitchen that much… We was 18 floors up and we put the aerial out the balcony window, moved it around… And then the front door come flying off and some old geezer come flying in, screaming at us, going, 'My telly!' He was watching the rugby and he could hear our radio station coming through his telly!"

Pirate radio weekend

PIRATE RADIO WEEKEND EVENT: OCT. 26 & 27th

Again, I'm organising a pirate radio event when most of the European and American pirate operators will be on air with their stations, playing music, sending greetings to listeners and having fun!

The pirate radio weekend will take place on the 26th and 27th October (Friday and Saturday), as well as on the Sunday morning. I would like as many stations as possible to take part in it.
