Thinking about stations I used to hear almost weekly in the early-mid 90's, are the operators of the likes of Jolly Roger, Ozone, Britain Radio, Gloria, and Stella still with us?
"Roger Davis" who used to be a main voice on Britain Radio International, is now regularly heard on Radio Seagull, the legal but ship based station anchored in Harlingen, Netherlands. At night their programmes are relayed by Carillon Hospital Radio on 1476 kHz from Leicester. I used to enjoy BRI and had a nice letter from Roger when writing in decades ago. "Andy Walker" who was on WFRL, WNKR and various other London centric stations, presents a very good oldies show on Shortwave Radio 3975 - the legal hobbyist station licensed in Germany. Again, Andy sent me a nice letter when I was a lad into pirate radio. "Jack Russell" from Weekend Music Radio recently joined him on that station, and that was a great listen.
I guess it is a little like the FM community radio scene here in Bristol: I can name several dozen presenters who started their career on FM pirate radio back in the 80s and 90s!! I'm sure the same is true in other cities round the UK! :)
I think you need to check that you have the right Roger Davis!
Perhaps! Funnily enough, Radio Seagull is broadcasting "Roger Davis" this morning. Listening to him now, if he isn't the same guy, then he certainly shares the same accent! :) But of course, who knows! :)
